Slip and Fall Victim Awarded $2.3 Million Settlement

One man will walk away with $2.3 million after winning his slip and fall lawsuit against a grocery store. A jury returned the verdict last week with a higher-than-expected figure. The accident happened in May 2008 and involved a crushed fruit. The victim, 49-year-old C.W., was shopping at the national chain grocery store when he slipped and fell. As a result of his fall C.W. suffered a spinal cord injury that necessitated surgery. In addition, the doctors were forced to place multiple screws and rods into his spinal cord. He racked up $135,000 in medical bills and lost his income since he could not work while recovering.

During the trial, the jury was shown how the store attempted to hide video evidence of the accident. This blatant attempt to avoid blame led the jury to grant the award amount of $2.3 million to the victim of the slip and fall accident. Were you injured during a slip and fall accident?
