In Corralitos, a man as seriously hurt after his Toyota Corolla veered into oncoming traffic on Freedom Boulevard. The 31 year old man's car was hit by a Dodge pickup that was towing an empty horse trailer, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Police say that the man was not wearing a seatbelt and that he was speeding when the crash took place just south of White Road.
The force crushed the front of his car, leaving him trapped inside the vehicle. It took rescue crews 30 minutes to free him from the driver's seat. CHP officer Brian Samms said, "He broke the steering wheel with his body and there was blood everywhere." After he was freed from his car, he was flown to an out-of-county trauma center to receive treatment for his injuries.
The driver of the pickup, a 63 year old man, suffered no serious injuries. He had been wearing a seatbelt and his airbag was deployed. Samms said that the car accident will remain under investigation.
