Girl Killed at Mario Andretti Driving Experience Event
Tragedy struck this year at the Mario Andretti Driving Experience when 24 year old Asley Phalen was killed in a car crash. The event, which gives drivers the chance to experience driving a race car, allows them to travel at speeds up to 160 miles per hour. It is unsure as to how fast Phalen was driving at the time of impact.
Ms. Phalen was driving a replica Indy race car at a very high speed when she lost control and crashed into an inside wall of the Auto Club Motor Speedway in Fontana. She was taken to Kaiser Foundation Hospital shortly afterward, around 9:30 AM, and was declared dead not long after her arrival.
The company sponsoring this event has not responded to questions regarding Phalen's accident.
