Truck Accident Causes Brush Fire at California-Nevada State Border

This week, a truck that was traveling on Interstate 80 crashed into a nearby construction zone near the Nevada California state borders on Saturday and sparked a brush fire that crossed the highway, moved into nearby brush and halted traffic for over three hours.

Allegedly, the truck hit a guard rail in the construction zone and rolled over an embankment which ruptured the vehicle's fuel tanks said the Nevada Highway Patrol. Police say that no serious injuries have been reported.

At the time of the trucking accident, the vehicle was carrying onions and became fully engulfed in flames that spread at least 25 acres.  Firefighters arrived at the scene and initially had trouble putting out the fire due to traffic.  Numerous firefighting resources were dispatched including 75 firefighters, to air tankers, two helicopters and 10 fire engines.
