Caltrans Driver Injured during Bus Accident

On Tuesday, a Caltrans bus was struck by a motorcycle on Tuesday morning while driving on Highway 101.

While the names of the Caltrans employee and the motorcycle driver have not been released, it was reported that both suffered moderate injuries during the 11:00 AM collision.  The California Highway Patrol said that both parties were taken to Marian Medical Center.

According to CHP Sgt. John Ploetz, the motorcycle driver and the bus driver had tried to avoid one another, but were unsuccessful.  He said that the accident remains under investigation and that he was unsure how fast the motorcyclist was driving prior to the crash.

Both of the men involved in the collision were able to communicate with emergency response crews and officers say they have plans to visit them in the hospital to collect further information.
