Man Charged with Murder Following Drunk Driving Accident

When he took to the road drunk one night, 28-year-old Alan Michael McConnell never dreamed that he would eventually plead guilty to murder.

However, that is just what McConnell did when he went before the court this month to plead guilty to two murder counts form a drunk driving accident. Back in January 2010 officers found McConnell to have a blood-alcohol content of .15, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.

What started out as a minor fender-bender turned into a fatal accident when McConnell, unnerved from the first accident, attempted to flee the scene. Instead, he lost control of his car, killing his two female passengers as a result.

The next time McConnell will appear in court is on April 22 at the Pomona Courthouse. He will be sentenced, and is likely to receive 15 years to life in a state prison for each charge.
