Marine Killed in Freak Accident
A former Marine was killed last week in a freak accident that nobody could have predicted or prevented. The 30-year-old was sitting in a popular coffee shop when a SUV drove through the front window and pinned him against a wall.
While the young man was brought to a local hospital, he died four hours later. Just two other people received injuries in a car accident that is still under investigation. Police now know that the driver was an off-duty sheriff's deputy from Los Angeles County.
Blood work results show that neither alcohol nor drugs are to blame for the accident. They are investigating whether the otherwise healthy police officer lost consciousness, causing him to cut across two lanes of traffic and drive straight into the coffee shop.
