Olympic Swimmer Saves Life

Not only has he won an Olympic silver medal but now Terrence Parkin can add hero to his list of accolades. He was swimming at his local gym when he realized that a young boy had gotten stuck in one of the pool's vents.

By the time Parkin was able to free him the boy was believed to have been submerged for at least three minutes as he was completely unresponsive when removed from the pool. However, the South African Olympic swimmers quick actions are ultimately responsible for saving the boy's life.

According to Netcare 911 Parkin had already begun to give the boy CPR.

While they can be a tremendous source of entertainment during the summer and provide a place of exercise for many, a swimming pool accident can happen to anyone and any time.
