Victim Gets $1.75 Million Award for Medical Malpractice Case
A former patient at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center was granted the $1.75 million in settlement money after an injury at the hospital left her seriously injured. This amount was approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday afternoon.
When Amber Dunn was brought to the hospital after a car accident in 2008, the wall of her blood vessel was punctured by a catheter which later led to a host of other complications. She was treated for her initial injuries and discharged several days later.
Dunn realized that something was amiss and returned to the hospital where the negligence was discovered. At that point she decided to sue the county for medical malpractice and negligence.
