Investigators Gaining Insight into Train Accident

After three days of investigating the train accident just outside of Reno, investigators are far from getting the answers they need.

According to Earl Weener, a member of the National Transportation Safety Board, the accident between an Amtrak train and a big rig left six people dead, even more injured and even missing. While investigators have decreased the number of estimated missing down from 28, there are no definite answers just yet. Looking back at train records, Amtrak has ascertained that 196 were on board the California Zephyr when it collided with the truck on Friday.

Although identities of the victims have yet to be released, it is known that the conductor and the truck driver both lost their lives. To help law enforcement officials identify any remains in the rubble, two forensic anthropologists were called to the train accident site.
