Semi Truck Driver Appears in Court Post Fatal Accident
The case being heard in a Los Angeles court room this week is heart-wrenching, as it involves a semi-truck driver who accidentally took the lives of two innocent people last year.
Jurors have already heard the facts presented by both sides about the 46-year-old male truck driver who lost control of his vehicle after ignoring the signs that he should not attempt a steep highway. Even though the driver had been warned by an off-duty fireman that he should not drive down a specific part of the highway, the driver did, and lost his brakes in the process.
While the driver did pull over to attend to his over-heated brakes, throwing water on them, he went back on the highway shortly after. This is not standard trucking protocol and it resulted in the truck accident that killed two adults who were standing inside a bookstore that the truck crashed into.
The jury will now decide the fate of the driver who has been charged with seven felony counts.
