Woman Gets Bill for Train Repairs Following Crash

Even though the train hit her car, the driver now faces a repair bill for damages done to the train.

According to a spokesman for Metro-North, it could take weeks to determine the amount of damage done to one of their trains last weekend. According to police reports, the driver 40-year-old Victoria Besse, and her 7-year-old daughter were crossing on Herbert Street when the train hit them. Since the crossing is listed as private, it does not have flashing lights or gates. However, federal law mandates that trains sound their horns at all crossings.

As a result Besse and her daughter were taken to the local hospital to be treated. They are both expected to survive the crash. The train, carrying about 100 passengers, was brought back to the Milford Metro-North station, where they were told to take a different Waterbury-bound train.

Although they aren"t common, a train accident could happen to anyone. Contact us to discuss your legal options with a Los Angeles personal injury attorney that handles these types of cases.
