14 People Die during Tour Bus Accident

When a tour bus flipped on its side in the Bronx last week, fourteen people lost their life.

The bus had just left Mohegan Sun Casino around 3:45 a.m. and was heading to Chinatown in Manhattan when the bus driver lost control of the vehicle. According to the New York City Fire Department the bus flipped on its side and slid into a pole. A metal overhanging sign also caught onto the bus and ripped off most of the top of the bus.

When firefighters arrived at the scene of the accident they had to cut away several portions of the bus just to access the passengers inside.

Although exact reports have not been released yet it is believed that there were 33 passengers, 20 of which were taken to local hospitals with six listed in critical condition.

Areas of Interstate 95 were shut down as emergency workers assessed and removed debris from the accident.
