Man STruck by Amtrak Train
Tragedy struck in San Diego when a man was unable to get out of the path of a northbound Amtrak train last week.
According to the Sheriff's Department the accident happened around 6 p.m. The train was on the No. 2 track heading to Los Angeles and was approaching the Washington Street crossing when the conductor saw a man walking in the middle of the tracks. Even though there were bells and whistles already sounding at the crosswalk the conductor pulled the train whistle to alert the man. Nothing appeared to deter the man who continued to stay on the No. 2 track until he was struck and killed on impact.
At this time the Sheriff's Department is still investigating this accident as they do all train accidents that occur in San Diego County.
