Excercising Safety Can Prevent Swimming Pool Accidents

Although you may enjoy hitting the water on a hot day, you must exercise safety to avoid swimming pool accidents, especially if you have children.

The American Academy of Pediatrics reports that between 1990 and 2000, drownings were the second leading cause of accidental injury for children age 1 to 19. Since this is a preventable injury, you must take all precautions to ensure that your loved ones are safe around the swimming pool, and even at the beach.

In their report, the academy warns that teaching your children how to swim may not prevent them from drowning. You must always keep your eyes on your children while swimming as drowning children very rarely thrash around, but simply slip under the water. Do not take even just a few minutes away from watching your children; the report showed that in 77 percent of reported child drownings, the child had been seen just five minutes before the accident happened.

If you or someone you care for has been involved in a drowning accident, contact our legal team to get immediate help from a Los Angeles personal injury attorney.
