Four Bus Accident Shuts Down Lanes of I5

In an unlikely turn of events, a four-bus accident shut down the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway.

One of the buses was carrying 25 inmates bound for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, while the other three all carried military personnel. In total just eight injuries were reported, all of them minor.

The bus accident happened around noon last week just south of Washington Boulevard. Officers believe that a car stopped short in front of the first bus carrying the inmates, causing the bus driver to slam on his brakes. The three other buses had been traveling behind him in the fast lane and had no time to stop or avoid hitting the first bus.

As a result of the multi-bus accident, both northbound and southbound lanes were shut for over thirty minutes. Another bus was sent to pick up the prisoners.
