Girls Saddened by Outcome of Dog Bite Incident

Two little girls are saddened by the events surrounding a service dog in River Vale this week.

According to police reports the service dog, a 14-month-old German shepherd named Ava, bit a 6-year-old girl on the nose. The young girl had been visiting her friend, 9-year-old cancer patient Molly Kimball. Ava's role was the steady Molly whenever she appeared to be unstable, a symptom of the tumors that riddle her brain. Yet for some reason, Ava bit Isabelle Gernhardt's nose, causing a long gash that runs from her forehead to the bridge of her nose.

One hundred stitches were required to close up the wound on Isabelle's nose.

Sadly enough for both Ava and Molly, the dog will have to be removed from the township between an agreement made between the dog's owners and the girl's parents.
