Police Find Bodies of 2 Boat Accident Victims

The search for the bodies of two men lost in Apple Creek has come to an end.

The two victims had been canoeing on the creek when it appears that their boat capsized. Due to the high water levels and fast current, the men were likely unable to right their boat; the same problems afflicted the search-and-rescue teams dispatched after the canoe was found empty.

After days of searching, the bodies of the drowning accident were located. Commenting on the incident, Maj. Kelley Leben said, "There's a sense of closure for everybody that's involved that's been working for 11 days, thinking and planning and physically working [...] But unfortunately it did not end the way we would have hoped the night the call first came in." Leben then added that several agencies came together and worked hard in the recovery effort.
