Serious Bus Accident Takes Place on Northbound I5

A serious accident on the northbound 5 Freeway kept officers busy most of the day last Thursday.

According to police reports four buses and a passenger car were all involved in a crash that took up most of the northbound lanes. Three of the buses were carrying National Guard service members, while the fourth was transporting jail inmates to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility. When the bus carrying the inmates was rear-ended by another bus, it set off a chain reaction that involved the three following buses and a passenger car.

In total just eight people were injured, with one soldier being brought to a local hospital. The service members were transferred to new buses to continue to their camp in San Luis Obispo.

Authorities are still investigating the bus accident and have yet to release all the details.
