Brain Injury May Not Have Been Accidental
The case of a young child that died due to brain injury is holding the attention of a community in Illinois.
This week, the jury heard from a medical expert for the prosecution. Based on his examination of the case, the doctor informed the jury that the injuries found on the toddler's body were consistent with the little boy being thrown to the floor. He disproved the theory put forth by the defense that the young woman being charged for his death had merely aggravated an existing head trauma.
The 25-year-old suspect is being charged with the death of the little boy who was in her care at a day care center. Despite the evidence mounting against her, the woman's lawyers are sticking to their story that the young boy has a history of throwing himself backwards in a sitting position. The doctor that went before the jury this week was eager to show that the 4" x 4" skull fracture shown in the autopsy report was fresh, not an old injury that had been aggravated.
