Drunk Driving Crash Causes Small Fire

Police were dispatched to the scene of a drunk driving accident that injured one and caused a small fire.

According to police in Los Angeles, California, the suspect, a 28-year-old man from Sylmar, was driving his truck well above the posted speed limit when he struck a parked pickup truck. The impact of the crash was severe enough to push the truck forward and into a utility pole. One of the high-voltage lines was jarred loose which caused a small fire at the base of the pole. A few properties lost their power as a result.

The pickup truck had a camper attached to it; upon further inspection, police found a man sleeping in the camper. It is unknown whether the man sustained minor or major injuries, but he was transported to an area hospital immediately after the crash.

The driver has since been charged with felony drunk driving. Additional charges could come upon completion of the investigation.
