Man Hits Two Anchored Boats
A 33-year-old man struck two anchored boats that had all of the required navigational lights on while traveling down a river on his own boat. Police officers believe that the man was intoxicated when the boat accident occurred.
The man apparently drove right into two boats that were anchored in the river killing two men. A number of other passengers on the boats were also moderately to seriously injured. The injured boaters were taken to a local hospital while police questioned the man responsible for the boat accident.
Officials say that the man's eyes were bloodshot and that he smelled strongly of alcohol. When asked what happened, the man simply replied that he had left his cabin on the river heading upstream and then turned around and headed back downstream. It was when the man was asked how much he had to drink that night that he asked for a lawyer.
Police say the man was later arrested for boating while under the influence and has also been charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and three counts of second-degree assault.
