School Bus Overturns during Crash
Luck was on the side of the occupants of a school bus that flipped over last week during a collision.
According to the chief of the fire department responding to the bus accident, 26 students from a local high school were on board the school bus when it flipped. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, although all the students were brought to area hospitals to be checked for injuries.
The bus driver told police that he saw a band trailer in front of him hit a utility pole, causing him to swerve into traffic where the bus eventually overturned.
The fire department chief had been driving behind the bus and jumped out immediately to start pulling students from the escape hatches. While no students were seriously injured, the bus driver and a chaperone did receive minor injuries during the crash. They were treated at area hospitals and released later in the day.
