Parents Blame Bullying and School District for Child's Death
In Salt Lake City, Utah, the parents of a teenager that committed suicide are suing a school district. The parents believe that their child's death came after years of bullying from classmates. According to the wrongful death lawsuit filed earlier this year, 17-year-old J.H. committed suicide last January. His parents are blaming the school district for failing to provide a safe place for the young boy to complete his education. They go on to state that the district not only knew about the emotional and physical abuse that he suffered at the hands of his peers, but that it did nothing to stop it.
The abuse allegedly went on for as long as five years before the young man became so distraught that he ended his life. Three parties have been named in the wrongful death lawsuit - the county sheriff's office, the school district and the board members.
