3 Bus Accidents Occur in Hillsborough County
Posted By Law Offices of Gerald L. Marcus

In Hillsborough County alone three bus crashes were recorded.

The first crash occurred around 7:13 a.m. as a school bus on the way to Dowdell Middle crashed at Palm Avenue and 50th Street. According to sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter, there were 23 students on the bus at the time, five of whom complained of back and neck soreness. They were treated at local hospitals for their injuries. Police found that a van had driven into the side of the bus' path, and while the driver did not receive any injuries, he was given a citation for careless driving.

Another crash involved two buses later on in the day, when a school bus and a HART bus hit on Kelly Road at Memorial Highway. Many people on the HART bus 2415 complained of injuries; luckily there were no students on the school bus.

The final accident of the day happened at Palm and Larner avenues in Tampa. Police stated that there were no students on the bus at that time and the driver was not injured.

  Bus Accident Kills Three People
Posted By Law Offices of Gerald L. Marcus

In Montana, more details have been released about a head-on collision that led to the deaths of three people last Wednesday.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just after 7:00 AM on Highway 200, just between the towns of Circle and Brockway.

A trooper from the Montana Highway Patrol, Nyle Oberfell, said that a Ford Explorer was heading east on Highway 200 when he suddenly swerved into the westbound lane, striking a school bus head on.  Thankfully, no children were onboard when the bus accident occurred.

Police say the female bus driver, a female passenger in the SUV and the SUV driver were all killed as a result of the crash.

At this time, officers do not believe that alcohol or speeding was involved in the accident.  All three victims were wearing seatbelts and their names have not been made public, yet.

Man Receives $7 Million Settlement in Bus Accident Suit
Posted By Law Offices of Gerald L. Marcus

A man who claims he suffered severe injuries after getting hit by a bus will receive $7 million in a settlement from the Orange County Transportation Authority.

The OCTA claims that Ronald Cunningham was extremely drunk when he was hit by the bus, and that he fell because his BAC was more than three times the legal limit. He was even supposedly carrying two 18-packs of beer when he was hit.

Cunningham accepted the settlement offer the night before his case was set to go to trial. A spokesperson for the transit authority said the OCTA wanted to go to trial, believing they should not be held accountable since Cunningham was drunk at the time of the accident, but the attorneys for the insurance company wanted to settle.

Country Star Trace Adkins’ Tour Bus Involved in a Head-On Collision
Posted By Law Offices of Gerald L. Marcus

Five people are dead and two people are injured following a head-on collision involving a pickup truck and country star Trace Adkins’ tour bus.

The accident occurred February 13 when the pickup truck, driven by 21-year-old Justin Maxey, crossed the center divider on U.S. Route 71 in Louisiana and collided head-on with Adkins’ tour bus, which was en route to a concert. Both Maxey and his passenger were killed in the accident, while five of Adkins’ band members who were riding in the bus sustained injuries. Adkins himself was not in the bus at the time of the accident.

The band members were transported to a nearby hospital, where they were treated for relatively minor injuries, including bumps, bruises, lacerations, and a shoulder injury. Adkins later picked up his band mates from the hospital and they went on to perform a scaled-back version of their show.
