3 Bus Accidents Occur in Hillsborough County
Posted By Law Offices of Gerald L. Marcus

In Hillsborough County alone three bus crashes were recorded.

The first crash occurred around 7:13 a.m. as a school bus on the way to Dowdell Middle crashed at Palm Avenue and 50th Street. According to sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter, there were 23 students on the bus at the time, five of whom complained of back and neck soreness. They were treated at local hospitals for their injuries. Police found that a van had driven into the side of the bus' path, and while the driver did not receive any injuries, he was given a citation for careless driving.

Another crash involved two buses later on in the day, when a school bus and a HART bus hit on Kelly Road at Memorial Highway. Many people on the HART bus 2415 complained of injuries; luckily there were no students on the school bus.

The final accident of the day happened at Palm and Larner avenues in Tampa. Police stated that there were no students on the bus at that time and the driver was not injured.

  School Bus Collides with SUV
Posted By Law Offices of Gerald L. Marcus

When a school bus collided with an SUV in Eureka, MO, a woman was killed and five children injured.  Kaela Archambault, 20, was the driver of the SUV that crossed the center line, hitting the school bus head-on. Her car exploded into flames prompting multiple fire houses to respond. According to KMOV in St. Louis, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

At that time there were only five Greggie Elementary students left on the bus in grades 1, 2, 3, and 5. The Rockwood School District students were taken to the St. John's Mercy Medical Center to checked for any serious injuries; all of them are expected to be released quickly. The bus driver was also taken to the hospital but soon after was released.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the bus accident as they aren't sure what caused her to cross the center line at that time. They say that Archambault is a Florida resident visiting family in the Eureka area.

Survivors file Lawsuit against Greyhound Bus Company
Posted By Law Offices of Gerald L. Marcus

Merely a week after a horrific bus accident that led to the death of six people on Highway 99 in Fresno, six of the survivors have decided to file a personal injury lawsuit against Greyhound and the drivers involved.  The lawsuit was filed by the plaintiffs this Wednesday in Sacramento by four adults and two children.

30 people reportedly survived the deadly bus accident.  At this time, the California Highway Patrol has not released its final report on what or who caused the accident.  However, attorneys for the plaintiffs say that Greyhound is responsible for making sure passengers get to their end destinations safely.

Lawyer for the plaintiffs, Steven Brady, told news sources, "There are reports that another vehicle had gone around the overturned SUV and safely able to avoid it.  Obviously the bus driver was driving at a speed that exceeded his physical ability to perceive, react, and avoid hitting the SUV."

The driver of the SUV, 28 year old Elsabeth Giorgis was also listed as a defendant on the lawsuit.  According to her attorney, Giorgis was driving in the slow lane the Greyhound bus clipped her, causing her to collide with the overturned SUV.  Her lawyer claims that Giorgis is being re-victimized after the accident and feels it is too soon for the plaintiffs to take legal action.
