Mr. Marcus explains contingency fees.
When you hire my law firm to represent you for a personal injury case, we work strictly on a contingency fee basis. A contingency fee is when we get paid out of the settlement or the recovery of the case. In other words, you pay no fee whatsoever up front. Typically, the fee is standard, it's thirty three and a third percent of whatever the gross recovery is. It would go up to fourty percent if we had to file a lawsuit and litigate the case. Typically, when we file a lawsuit and we're involved in litigation the work involved is at least 10 times greater. The key component that you understand is that you pay absolutely no fee whatsoever, and more importantly, if there is no recovery then there is no fee, so you have absolutely no risk in the process whatsoever.
